Social Impact Summit Canada is committed to providing an inclusive, accessible experience — both online at socialimpactsummit.org and in person at the Summit on November 24, 2026 in Ottawa. Accessibility is a core value of the Summit and a practical expression of its mission to build impact infrastructure that works for everyone.

1. Our commitment

We design, build, and operate this Site with the goal of meeting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the W3C, and aligning with the requirements of Ontario's Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the federal Accessible Canada Act.

2. What we do on the Site

  • Semantic HTML structure, landmarks, and ARIA where appropriate.
  • Keyboard navigability for all interactive elements.
  • Visible focus states and a "skip to content" pattern.
  • Text alternatives for meaningful images and decorative aria-hidden for purely visual elements.
  • Sufficient colour contrast against our brand palette and resizable text without loss of content.
  • Forms with associated labels, clear error messages, and accessible validation.
  • Captions and transcripts for video and audio content where provided.
  • Respect for the user's prefers-reduced-motion system setting.

3. What we do at the in-person Summit

  • A barrier-free venue (RBC Foundry, Bayview Yards) with accessible entrances, washrooms, and stage access.
  • Reserved accessible seating and clear sightlines to speakers and screens.
  • Live captioning on main-stage sessions; sign-language interpretation available on request.
  • A scent-reduced environment and a quiet room for sensory breaks.
  • Dietary accommodation for meals and breaks (please note requirements at registration).
  • Trained on-site team available throughout the day to support delegates with accommodations.

4. Requesting an accommodation

If you require an accommodation to register for, attend, speak at, or follow the Summit — online or in person — please contact us at least two weeks before the event where possible, so we can plan effectively. We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate late requests as well.

5. Known limitations

We are continuously improving the Site. Some third-party embeds and uploaded historical media may not yet meet WCAG 2.1 AA in full. We are working to remediate these and welcome reports of any barriers you encounter.

6. Feedback

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of this Site and the Summit. If you encounter a barrier, have a suggestion, or would like to share your experience, please contact:

We aim to acknowledge feedback within five business days and to provide a substantive response within fifteen business days.

7. Alternative formats

On request, we will provide Summit materials — agenda, speaker bios, partnership prospectus, communiqué — in alternative formats such as large print, plain language, or accessible PDF, at no cost.
