Social Impact Summit Canada ("the Summit", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through socialimpactsummit.org (the "Site"), how we use it, when we share it, and the choices you have. The Summit is convened by Prepr Foundation and operates in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.
1. Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to operate the Site and the Summit:
- Information you provide — name, organization, role, email, phone, country, and any message content you submit via our contact, registration, partnership, sponsorship, media, or speaker forms.
- Automatically collected information — IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, pages viewed, and approximate location, through standard server logs and analytics cookies.
- Cookies and analytics — we use Google Analytics (GA4, measurement ID
G-Q89EEZ3EF3) to understand aggregated usage of the Site. You can opt out via your browser settings or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
2. How we use your information
- To respond to inquiries, registrations, partnership, sponsorship, media, and speaker requests.
- To send Summit-related updates, agenda confirmations, logistics, and post-Summit materials such as the Ottawa Impact Infrastructure Communiqué.
- To improve the Site, content, and Summit programming through aggregated analytics.
- To comply with legal obligations and protect the rights, property, and safety of the Summit, our partners, and our delegates.
3. Legal basis
We process personal information on the basis of your consent (for example, when you submit a form or opt in to communications) and our legitimate interest in operating and improving a national, nonpartisan policy convening.
4. Sharing your information
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers that help us operate the Site, email, registration, and event logistics, under written confidentiality obligations.
- Co-hosts, host partners, or sponsors only with your prior consent.
- Authorities, when required by law, valid legal process, or to protect rights and safety.
5. International data transfers
Some service providers store data outside Canada. Where this is the case, we use providers that offer protections comparable to those required under PIPEDA.
6. Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes set out above, generally not longer than three years after your last interaction with the Summit, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
7. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information; withdraw consent to receive communications at any time; or ask a question about how your information is handled. Contact us at privacy@socialimpactsummit.org.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission over the Internet is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
The Site and the Summit are intended for an audience aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
